A repayable FedNor loan of $534,422 will fund the expansion and modernization of Gateway City Brewery in North Bay, a business that opened in 2018.

“We are excited to be receiving support from FedNor as we look to grow and expand our business,” said Jeff Hodge, co-founder of Gateway City Brewery. “We are proud of our community and are thrilled that this investment will take us to the next level and allow us to continue to contribute to a strong, local economy here in North Bay.”

The company plans to expand its product line. The move to a larger space is also needed to purchase new equipment that will increase production capacity, positioning them to expand their distribution to stores within the North and across Ontario. The space will allow the brewery to host events and create at least nine jobs in the first three years of the expansion.

“Communities in Nipissing-Timiskaming know the importance of supporting local businesses,” said Anthony Rota, Nipissing–Timiskaming MP. “North Bay has done that with Gateway City Brewery. With this FedNor investment, I look forward to seeing the business grow, expand and contribute to the economic success of North Bay for years to come.”

Funding was provided through the Regional Economic Growth through Innovation (REGI) program. REGI is a national funding program which supports the growth of Canadian businesses, their expansion into new markets and their adoption of new technologies and processes.
