Starting Jan. 30, planning applications for the City of Sudbury will be accepted online through the new Pronto portal.

The online service will simplify the application process by allowing individuals to complete forms, upload plans and drawings and submit them digitally — eliminating the need for multiple in-person visits.

Through Pronto, applicants can easily track the progress of their application from start to finish. If additional information is needed, they will be notified via email or phone to ensure a seamless and efficient process.

The online portal must be used for:

  • Pre-Consultation (SPART)
  • Minor Variance and Sign Variance
  • Consent (Land Severance)
  • Zoning By-law Amendment
  • Official Plan Amendment
  • Site Plan Control
  • Draft Plan of Subdivision

Applications submitted prior to January 30 will follow the current process. Applicants can call 311 or visit in person to receive assistance with the new system. Resources are also available on the City’s website.

The online portal was originally launched on June 27, 2023, to accept building permit applications. Since then, additional features have been added, including scheduling inspections, accessing historical property building permit information, and now, submitting planning services applications.

Future enhancements will include online payment processing, additional planning application types and historical planning application information. In 2024, 2,678 permit applications were submitted, including building permits, driveway permits, and road closure and occupancy permits.
