Bot Construction Limited has been awarded the Ministry of Transportation contract for grading, drainage, granular base, hot mix paving, and structural work on Highway 17 near Schrieber, including the Hewitson Creek Culvert.

This $38M contract is being delivered using the bid-build procurement model. Work will enhance the Trans-Canada highway corridor in Northwestern Ontario.

The contract includes the excavation of 350,000 cubic metres of earth, over 230,000 cubic metres of rock, and the processing of approximately 150,000 tonnes of granular (from the rock excavation) for the road base.

Construction is set to begin in late June with completion planned for October 2027.

“We are pleased to receive this project award and to continue our work in building highways throughout the Northwestern Ontario highway network,” Steve Bot, Vice President and General Manager of Bot. “The scope of this expansion project with the earth excavation, rock excavation, granular processing and structural culvert fit perfectly with our company’s expertise.”

Bot Construction is a member of the Bot Construction Group, an Oakville based company, and one of Ontario’s largest privately owned, full service heavy civil construction organizations. Operating since 1957, Bot’s work includes major provincial highway and arterial road expansions, landmark bridges, freeway to freeway interchanges, rail bridge structures, and access roads for airports and industrial complexes.

Other current works include the Design/Build /Finance/Operate/Maintain (DBFOM) of the Hurontario Light Rail Transit (LRT) in Mississauga and Brampton, the William Halton Parkway Extension in Oakville, and the Derry Road and Mayfield Road bridge rehabilitations in Brampton.
