ZagMar Builders achieves award-winning recognition in first months in business

ZagMar Builders’ owner operator Louie Zagordo has applied 25 years of construction industry experience in launching his new business in April – and he has already received recognition for his company’s workmanship.
ZagMar has received the 2012 Sudbury and District Home Builders Association (SDHBA) award for the best new home bathroom and received nominations in several other categories. “For a new business to be recognized in this way is a great acknowledgment that we’re doing things right,” says Zagordo.
Zagordo started out as a labourer, gaining experience as a carpenter, estimator, site manager and in all areas of project co-ordination including customer service. “I took all I’ve learned over the years and now focus that experience and knowledge on residential home construction, additions and renovations to ensure a quality product is delivered.”
Working on model or spec homes, plus custom projects, ZagMar buys and develops lots in subdivisions including Minnow Lake, New Sudbury and Chelmsford, or will build on privately-held lots. “We work with a full range of our own designs including bungalows, two-storeys and raised ranch but can build anything the client wants.”
Zagordo goes beyond building code standards, with poured concrete foundations, 200 amp electrical service, upgraded trim and moulding, hardwood floors and upgraded shingles. His contractors use blown in insulation and adds spray foam to headers to create homes that are more comfortable, durable and efficient. “We use combinations of brick, hardie board and upgraded siding to create homes with traditional looks and functional styles,” he said.
Zagordo places a strong emphasis on well-established relationships with local trades to ensure top-notch customer service. “I like the security of knowing the trades and suppliers I work with, that they are close by if any issues arise for my client, and prefer supporting our local economy.”
ZagMar Builders wants to create an enjoyable home buying experience. The company begins with an understanding of the client’s lifestyle and priorities to create a base design and then narrows down the wish list to include what can be accomplished within the budget, while eliminating the excess. “I don’t believe in pushing people beyond their budget but I also want to provide a turn-key home so when they move in there is nothing that has to be done,” he said. “From the start I work with each client to ensure the best product we can deliver, within their budget, and with as many wish list items as we can include.”
Zagordo ensures open communication with regular client contact and opportunities for walkthroughs at various stages. “I would rather the client be excited and thrilled at every stage of the build so we’re happy to take them through during the framing stage so they can visualize the layout, as cupboards are installed and walls painted to ensure their colour selections; really whenever they wish,” he said. “I don’t want to be one of those builders who won’t let the client see the home until it reaches a stage of finishing that makes it impossible to make changes.”
Zagordo is confident his after-sales service will ensure clients’ security and happiness in their new homes. A pre-delivery inspection with a service technician will take care of any pre-occupancy deficiencies. Then ZagMar provides 30-day, one year and two-year inspections to ensure any issues are identified and resolved under the Tarion Home Warranty and the builder’s own supplementary warranties.
ZagMar is a SDHBA member and a Tarion builder. Zagordo is proud ZagMar Builders is securing its place in the local economy and delivering homes people can be proud to call their own.
